Anne was born on September 6, 1911, in Manfred, ND, to Nels and Guri (Haugen) Melby. She was raised on a farm near Makoti and graduated from Makoti High School in 1930. Anne married Leo Beyer on June 26, 1930, in Minot. They made their home in Minnesota and Makoti prior to moving to Minot in 1934 where Leo was employed by Sears and the Great Northern Railroad while Anne served as mother and homemaker. Anne and Leo began employment with the Ward County Library as bookmobile operators in 1960. She resigned from this position in 1966 to care for her ailing husband. Leo died on August 11, 1969. Following his death she was employed as the children’s librarian at the Minot Public Library until 1973. She had been employed as the visitation receptionist at the Thomas Family Funeral Home from 1974 until 1991. Anne had been a resident of Trinity Homes for the past three years. Anne was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church- Minot and a former member of Hope Lutheran Church –rural Makoti. She was a member of the Martha Circle, Lutheran Women’s Missionary league (LWML), taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served as Bereavement Committee Chairperson for many years. An avid bowler, she started bowling in 1971 and was active in several leagues. In addition, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, embroidery, ceramics, gardening, cooking and canning and was proud to have received a Lawn Beautification Award in 1975. One of the highlights of her life was a trip to Norway to explore her Norwegian heritage. Anne’s loving family includes her children: Wally (Pat) Beyer of Bismarck, ND and Phyllis (James) Imand of Windsor CA; daughter-in-law: Joyce Beyer of Coon Rapids, MN; eight grandchildren: Wanda (Tom) Selzler, Carrie (Ron) Myers, Steve (Jill) Beyer, Jim (Nancy) Imand, Rick (Melissa) Beyer, Janelle (Gar) Wiedrich, Jennifer (Kevin) Krush, Jon (Jennifer) Beyer; many great grandchildren; sister in law: Hazel Melby of Minnesota and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Richard, daughter-in-law: Elaine Beyer, granddaughter: Carla Jean Imand, sisters: Margaret Peterson and Gertrude Schmidt and brothers: George and Eilert “Bing” Melby and Norman Lein.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in Bread
of Life Lutheran Church –Minot with Pastor Jeff Hoverson, her nephew,
