Brent was born October 7, 1968, in Minot, ND, the son of Gary and Carol (Ramsay) Hovdestad. He graduated from Minot High School in 1987, and from the University of North Dakota, Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Accounting in 1991. Brent was extremely successful in business, and worked in the financial services industry. He began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Deloitte and Touche in Minneapolis, then with Brady Martz in Grand Forks, and later with Arthur Andersen and Company in Minneapolis. He was employed as an investment representative with Edward Jones Co. in Minot for several years, with Wells Fargo Investments in Minneapolis, and most recently as a consultant with RBC Dain Rauscher in Minneapolis. Brent made the most of each and every precious moment in his 39 years. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, the arts, and spending time with his family and friends. He was extremely involved in his community, serving on the boards of many organizations: Junior Achievement, Domestic Violence Crisis Center, Minot Chamber of Commerce, First Lutheran Church - Minot, Kiwanis International, and Souris Valley United Way. He was a member of Governor Tim Pawlenty’s Citizen’s Budget Priority Committee, and was recently appointed by Governor Pawlenty to the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Humanities Center. Brent was a funny, generous, loving, dynamic, adventurous, thoughtful, sincere man that will be truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Brent is survived by his parents, Gary and Carol, sisters: Pam (Tom) Karpenko and Jodi (John) Stewart, niece Olivia Stewart, and many very close friends and extended family members.
