Edith was born on August 28, 1921, on the family farm in Antler Township of Bottineau County near Antler, ND, to Oscar and Christina (Larson) Hallof. She was raised on the family farm, attended rural school and graduated from Antler High School. As a young adult she was employed in Antler. Edith married Alfred Dokken on October 18, 1941 in Bottineau, ND. They made their home on a farm near Antler until 1949. They moved to Bordulac, ND and several other places and then to a farm near Ryder, ND where they resided from 1955 until 1962. They moved to Minot in 1962 where Edith was employed at Sunshine Grocery, Clara’s Kitchen and Lydia’s Café. Alfred died on August 9, 1993. Edith had resided at 625 7th Ave. N.E. for many years and at the Westhope Nursing Home for three years prior to moving to Somerset Court in 2001. Edith was a member of the Lutheran faith, a former member of a Renville County homemakers group and Vang Township election volunteer. She especially enjoyed gardening, ceramics, bingo, TV and latch hook. She was an excellent cook and baker and baked prize winning caramel rolls. Her loving family includes children: Rose (Howard) Brown of Minot and William (Jamie) Dokken of rural Max; four grandchildren: Robert and Richard Napora and Nathan and Jason Dokken; sisters: Edna Gilseth of Mohall and Alyce Spencer of Westhope and brother: Gilbert (Alta) Hallof of Larimore, ND and several nieces and nephews. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Mabel and brothers: Henry, Edward, Eddy, Chester, Reuben, Philip and Leo Hallof.
