Edna MoenEdna E. Moen, 88, Bremerton, WA, formerly of Minot, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in a Poulsbo, WA nursing home. 

Edna Resler was born June 16, 1919, in rural Willow City, ND, the daughter of John and Olga (Lang) Resler.  She attended elementary school in rural Willow Creek Township of McHenry County, ND.  Edna graduated high school from Gardena, ND in 1938.  She attended Minot Business College. 

Edna gained employment as an office clerk in the McHenry County Soil Conservation Office (ASC) in Towner until she was united in marriage to Norman Moen July 19, 1944.  They made their home on a farm they purchased adjacent to Simcoe, ND in Hendrickson Township of McHenry County.  They resided on the farm, raising small grains until retiring in 1977.  This union was blessed with three children: Elaine, Dianne, and Neil.  After retirement, they purchased a home in Minot.  Norman died in 1992. 

Edna enjoyed enjoyed homemaking and gardening, being actively involved in her church and sharing good times with her family and friends.  For many years she was actively involved in the North Dakota State Mental Health Assoc and Reach, where she diligently worked for better services for the mentally ill and disabled. She also acted as a parent advocate for the Grafton State School and served on its state advisory committee.  In 1987, she was awarded the Mental Health Heritage Service Award by the State of North Dakota.  After retirement, Edna also volunteered visitation at the Trinity Lutheran Home. 

After developing Parkinson's Disease in 2001, she moved to Washington to be near her family and lived there until her death.  She resided at the Moore the Merrier Senior Care Group Home near Silverdale. 

Edna was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church in Minot and a former member of Stenkjaer Lutheran Church of Simcoe, where she was active in Lutheran Church Women (LCW) and taught Sunday school.  She will be deeply missed by all who shared in her life. 

Surviving family includes:  Daughters:  Elaine (Terrance Ellingson) Morgan – Port Ludlow, WA and Dianne Moen - Moorhead, MN; Grandchildren:  Shawn and Shane Swilley; Brothers:  Arthur Resler, Bottineau, ND; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, son, Neil Moen, and brother, Reinhold Resler. 

Funeral:  Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 1:00 pm at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church, ND;
Interment:
Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND;
Visitation:
Friday, March 28, 2008, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home of Minot.
