Ethel A. Schram, 103, Minot, died Friday, March 7, 2008 in a Minot
Healthcare Center. Ethel was born August 11, 1904 in Barnum, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles and Erma (Douse) Stearns. Her mother died while Ethel was still young and the family moved to rural, Minot. She attended Minot Normal School and then Trinity Nursing School for one year. Ethel was once married to Edwin Schram. She made her home in Minot throughout the years, where she was employed as a waitress for Charlie’s Café for more than forty years. She was hired to be the personal waitress for President Eisenhower when he visited Minot and stayed at the C.P. Hotel. She retired in the mid-1970’s. Ethel entered ManorCare Health Center in 2000. Ethel was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church, and enjoyed working on various sewing projects. Her loving family includes: Daughter: Donna Lochthowe, Minot; Grandchildren: Ron Lochthowe and Judith (Verne) Zimbelman; Great-Grandchildren: Tammy (Dave) Edwinson, Kristi (Keith) Sell; Great-Great Grandchildren: Adam, Jacob, Emily, Austin and Kalie; Sister: Lorraine (Hobert) Wampler, Duluth, MN; Brother: Stanley (Verna) Stearns, Colorado; Sister-in-law: Dagney Stearns, Seattle, WA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, grandsons: Leon and Gary; son-in-law: Donald Lochthowe, great-grandchildren: Ricky and Kimberly, grand-daughter-in-law: Betty Berg Lochthowe, half-brother: Gordon and sisters, Lois Evenson and Hazel Ebner
