Evan SchmidtEvan Gene Schmidt, 11, Minot, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 15, 2009 at a St. Paul, MN Hospital. 

   Evan was born with his twin-brother Austin on September 23, 1997 at Minot, the son of Mark and Nichole (Irwin) Schmidt.  He was raised in Minot the first few years, and then made his home the last several years with his twin-brother, Austin at the Anne Carlsen Center in Jamestown.

   Evan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He loved Jesus, his family, listening to music, along with being outside in the sunshine. Evan was in the KY DZ Book Club, Scrap Pack Club, Special Olympics bowling, Kids Sabbath, Jamestown Speedway Jr Fan Club, ACC Vacation Bible School and Open Night Swimming.  He enjoyed gardening, especially watering and getting people wet. He loved to spend time at the Jamestown Reservoir with family and friends.  He enjoyed swimming at the Anne Evan SchmidtCarlsen Center and at his Minot home pool. He loved telling jokes with his communication device.  Evan enjoyed praying and reading his Bible in his last weeks with Mom at the Gillette Children’s Hospital. He liked to sleep with mom and dad and talk about family and heaven.

    His loving family includes: parents, Mark and Nichole of Minot, brothers and sisters: twin-brother, Austin, of Jamestown, Lexi, Noah and Mandy of Minot; maternal grandparents: Curt and Sandy (Rodman) Irwin of Kent, WA; paternal grandparents, Harley and Gloria Schmidt, Minot; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

 

Funeral service: Tuesday, June 23 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Monday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials or outdoor plants that will be used to establish a garden at their residence in Evan’s memory.
