Florence was born on November 14, 1922 on the family farm near Cathay, ND to Emil and Louise (Beck) Dietz. She was reared on the family farm, attended rural schools and graduated from Fessenden High School. Florence married Lloyd “Bud” Schimke on October 1, 1944 in Cathay. This union was blessed with a son, Dennis Michael Schimke, who was born on July 6, 1945. As a family they made their home in Minot where Bud owned and operated Modern Coin. Following their retirement they moved to McAllen, TX. They returned to Minot in August of 2004 to be nearer their family. Florence was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Minot and was a former member of First Baptist Church in McAllen. She especially enjoyed knitting, and was proud to have knitted over 250 afghans for church, friends, and family. Surviving family includes a sister: Alma Lindquist of Rosemount, MN; brother: Doug (Dorothy) Dietz of Elizabeth, MN; sister-in-law: Darlene Dietz of Fessenden, ND; brother-in-law: Elmer Fishbach of Minneapolis, MN; aunt Elsie Buxie of Osseo, MN as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Dennis on May 12, 1987, sister: Vi Fishbach and brothers: Ray and Don Dietz.
