Gary DahlGary “Dusty” Dahl, 65, Arizona, formerly of Minot, died Monday August 20, 2007, in his home.

Gary was born July 22, 1942, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Harley and Dorothy (Oggard) Dahl.  He was raised and educated in Minot, and graduated from MSU, in Nov. 1982.

Gary entered the U.S. Army on January 24, 1962, and was honorably discharged on January 23, 1968.

Gary was united in marriage to Sandy Fimreite, in May of 1968, in Norwich, ND.  He held various jobs in Minot including, working at S&L for his dad in the shoe department, sold cars and RV’s, sold Kirby vacuum cleaners, and owned and operated Gary’s Masterpiece Painting.

Gary loved to golf, ballroom dance, cook, tell jokes, play the piano, trumpet, and bugle. He was a member of the bugle corps, in Minot.  He also always had an eye out for a bargain.  He had a big heart and was willing to help out those less fortunate than him.  He recently helped a homeless person get "back on their feet" by offering a "rent free" place to stay and even a truck to have.  He asked for nothing in return, except for friendship, which he received. 

Gary was a member of the American Legion, VFW, D.A.V., and was a life member of the PGA.

Surviving family includes:  Children:  Karl Dahl, Minot and Cindy (Tom) Semmens, Minot; Granddaughter:  Amber Dahl, Lafayette, TN; and Sisters:  Connie Anderson, Edmore, ND, and Brenda Severson, Twin Falls, Wisconsin.

Graveside Service:  Friday, September 22, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
