Karen Klimpel was born February 17, 1945, in Minot, ND, the daughter of Melvin and Evelyn (Storbeck) Klimpel. She was raised on a farm near Sawyer and graduated from Sawyer High School in 1963. Karen was united in marriage to David Nickle on September 26, 1968, in Minot. She was involved in the mobile home industry for many years with her husband at Barrett Mobile Home Transport in St. Cloud, MN. She moved to Norwich, where she was a licensed Foster Parent in McHenry County for a number of years. Karen worked at the Holiday Inn in Minot, serving as a department head for housekeeping for a number of years until her retirement. Karen most recently was involved as a volunteer at Trinity Hospital. David died on February 13, 1989. Karen was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Minot. She loved having coffee with friends and neighbors, but most important to her was spending time with her grandson, Devin. Surviving family includes: Sons: David Nickle Jr., Deering, Darwin Nickle, Norwich, and Dominic (Frances) Nickle, Deering, ND; Grandson: Devin Nickle; Brother: Maynard Klimpel, Minot; Sister: Kathryn Neubauer, Glenburn, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Marlyn and Melvin Klimpel. Funeral: A small family service will be held. Back to
