Kermit
O. Kjonaas, 90, Minot and formerly of the Glenburn area, died Wednesday,
September 26, 2007, in Trinity Lutheran Kermit was born October 27, 1916, on the family farm in Bottineau County, North Dakota, the son of Chris and Emma (Braaten) Kjonaas. He attended Chatfield Township and Glenburn Schools. Kermit was united in marriage to Myrtle Gravseth on June 18, 1944 at Souris, ND. They made their home in the rural Glenburn area, where they farmed for fifty-four years. They moved to Minot in 1998, and had spent several winters in Mesa, Arizona. They moved into the Wellington Assisted Living Center in December of 2006. Kermit was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Glenburn, formerly known as Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where he served on the church board for several years. He also served on the Chatfield Township School Board. He bowled on a league with the Our Savior’s Bowling team. He and Myrtle were members of the Magic Squares Square Dance and Round Dance Club, the Minot Moose Lodge, Sakakawea Good Samaritan Club, and Thor Lodge of the Sons of Norway. They traveled to all 50 states and their most memorable trip was to Norway in 1982, when they visited relatives from both sides of their respective families. Kermit enjoyed his family, traveling, woodworking, gardening, bowling, playing pool, dancing, card playing and storytelling. Kermit was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter: Bille Jean Kjonaas.
