Margaret was born on June 20, 1921 in Norwich, ND, to Ingvald and Clara (Erickson) Peterson. She was raised and educated in Norwich and graduated from Norwich High School. Margaret married Blaine Barsness on November 19, 1941 at Bethany Lutheran Parsonage in Minot. They made their home on a farm north of Surrey where they farmed until 1960. They moved to Minot and Margaret worked at City Bakery and then with her husband operated the Motor Vehicle Office until retirement. Blaine died on April 12, 2000. Margaret was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Surrey. She was an active member of the Eagles Auxiliary and enjoyed travel, especially to visit her siblings in Washington as well as her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and spending time with them. Her loving family includes: Children: Donald Barsness and his wife Pamela (DeMakis) Barsness of Bismarck, Cheryl Ann Barsness of Renton WA; Granddaughter: Andrea Barsness, O.D. of Phoenix, AZ; Grandson: Christopher Barsness, Esq. of Los Angeles, CA; Great-Grandson: Zachary Blaine Sornoza (son of Andrea); Great-Granddaughter: Alexia Caitlyn Barsness (daughter of Christopher); Sisters: Anna Mae Fletcher and Emily Ward of Longview, WA, Esther Larson of Vancouver, WA, Elizabeth Bacon of Coeur d'Alene, ID; Brother: Joseph Peterson of Longview, WA; Sisters-in-law: Betty, Joyce and Joann Peterson, Myrtle Lund, Bernice Gerszewski and Brothers-in-law: Bob Larson, Douglas Bacon and Olger Barsness; several nieces and nephews from the Peterson and Barsness families. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-mother Katherine Peterson, sister Olga Enbody and brothers: Lavere, Donald, David and Clarence Peterson. Funeral Service:
