Norrine was born on June 12, 1921 in Willow City, North Dakota to Carl and Ida (Johnson) Johnson. She was raised in Willow City and graduated from Willow City High School. Norrine married Joseph Boen on June 26, 1941 at the family farm near Willow City. They made their home in Willow City where they worked at the family grocery store. The family moved to Minot in 1955 and to Sidney, Nebraska in 1957 where they owned and operated the El Palomino Motel. They moved to Tooele, Utah in 1962 before returning to Minot in 1963. They resided in Minot until 1973 when Joe retired from his job as the contracting officer at Minot Air Force Base. Following his retirement they resided in Mesa, AZ during the Winter and at Lake Metigoshe during the Summer, but always considered Minot their home. Joe died on July 15, 2003. Norrine moved to Somerset Court in 2001 where she had wonderful care and very much appreciated the staff and the other residents. Norrine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting afghans for her grandchildren.. Her loving family includes her sons: Ron (Carol) Boen of Minot and David (Sue) Boen both of Minot; grandchildren: Scott (Shelley) Cale, Brent (Danica) Cale, Kiersten (Brendan) DePaola, Amy (Mark) Ebel, Ryon (Kristen) Boen, Alison Hafer, Christian Hafer, Bradley (Lora) Boen and Heidy Boen (special friend Joe Hupf); great grandchildren: Mitchell Cale, Matt and Bobby Garcia, Elizabeth and Preston Wolf, Jacob Ochs, Tory and Tylynn Shook, Denise and Matthew Garcia, Ethan, Rebecca, Joshua and Mathew Boen; sister: Mariann Weydahl of Minot; brothers in law: Vic Burchill of Grand Forks and Gordon (Irena) Boen of Denver; sister-in-law: Solveig Boen of Albuquerque NM and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Norrine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Sandra Cale, sisters: Agnes Burchill and Gladyce Madsen, brother: Andy Johnson and infant great granddaughter – Alicia Garcia.
