Peter T. Hanson, 61, 604 10th St. NE, Minot, and formerly of Bottineau, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, in his home. Peter was born December 6, 1945, in Bottineau, the son of Harald and Luella (Kirkeby) Hanson. He was raised on the family farm, located north of Bottineau and graduated from Bottineau High School in 1963. Peter attended the North Dakota School of Forestry and graduated in 1965. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1966 and served as an Electric Technician/Reactor Operator until being honorably discharged in 1978. Peter was united in marriage to Deborah Fisher on December 30, 1969, in Hawaii. Following his Navy service, they returned to the family farm in Bottineau and resided there until moving to Langdon in 1984. Together, they operated the M & J Restaurant until 1989, when they moved to Minot. Peter worked at the Vocational Workshop as a Job Coach for a time. He joined the N.D. National Guard in 1989, serving in the Gulf War with the 132nd Quarter Master Unit from September 1990 through June 1991. He retired from the National Guard in 1999. He worked for the Minot Armed Forces Reserve Center as a custodial supervisor until the time of his death. Peter was a member of the AMVETS and Metigoshe Lutheran Church. Surviving family includes: wife of 37 years: Deborah, Minot; Son: Christopher Hanson, Fargo; Daughter: Elizabeth Hanson, Denver, CO; Sister: Betty Tratebas, Bottineau; Brothers: Dennis (Janette) Hanson, Bottineau, David (Charlene) Hanson, Independence, MO, and Ronald Hanson, Mobile, Alabama; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Harald Hanson Jr.; and father and mother-in-law: Roy (Dick) and Leila Fisher.
Funeral: Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at Vincent United
Methodist Church, Minot.
