Ronald Dale Skinn, age 70, of rural Minot died peacefully in his home
surrounded by his loving family after
a
courageous battle with cancer.
Ronald, was born on October 1, 1935, to George and Pearl (Tronson) Skinn, in
Newburg, ND. He was raised and educated in Newburg, graduating from Newburg
High School. As a young adult he moved to Minot. Ron married Betty Torno on
July 31, 1955, in Upham, ND. They made their home in Minot. Ron worked for
the Minot Fire Department, Minot Daily News, Glendenning Freight, Hart Motor
Express, and twenty plus years for Yellow Freight. He retired in May of
2006 after forty-three years as a truck driver. Ron married Doneta Sem on
May 21, 1999, in Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. They made their home near
Minot.
Ron was once a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and charter member of
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Minot, and was a member of Teamsters Union
and served on the board of directors for Local 74.
Ron enjoyed gardening, yard work, deer hunting, pinochle, trips to the
casino and driving antique cars. He attended many local sporting events and
was a World of Outlaws (Donny Schatz) fan. He also spent many years coaching
his son in T-ball and little league baseball. Ron had a great sense of humor
and loved to make people laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Doneta; daughters, Kari (Jim) Porter of
Minot, Lorrie (Tim) Brogan of Seattle, WA, Kelly (Wes) Haugen of Minot, and
his son Mark Ronald Skinn of St. Paul, MN; step-daughter, Kelli Sem (Lou
Edwardson) of Winnipeg, MB, step-son Daniel (Sarah) Sem of Minot; brother,
Duane (Dorothy) Skinn of Billings, MT; brother-in-law, Wayne Johnson of
Newburg, ND; sister-in-law, Lois Skinn of Miles City, MT; grandchildren,
Lacy and Ashley Porter and step- grandchildren, Lucas and Lexi Sigurdson,
Maddy, Maggie, and Mahlee Sem. Numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lorayne Johnson, brother,
Donald Skinn.
Funeral Service: Saturday, July 15, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in Zion
Lutheran Church – Minot;
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park – Minot;
Visitation: Friday, July 14, 2006, from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Thomas
Family Funeral Home – Minot;
Memorials: Memorials are
preferred to Trinity Hospice or Donor’s Choice.
