Stanley Wade Weeks, 45, Bismarck, formerly of
Minot and Williston, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 24, 2009, in
Bismarck. Stan Weeks was born on June 1, 1963, to Violet (Zietz) and Ronald “Dick” Weeks in Minot, North Dakota. He grew up in Burlington and graduated from Des Lac Public School in 1981. On August 8, 1997, Stan was united in marriage to Denise Fortier in Williston. They lived in Epping until they moved to Bismarck. At a young age, he started working at the Minot Country Club and held various positions before becoming the assistant superintendent. In 1991, he moved to Williston to work as the golf course superintendent at the Williston Country Club. It was during this time that he attended Turf Management School at Rutgers University in New Jersey. After he completed this schooling, he was instrumental in creating the Red Mike Golf Course (east of Williston) where he also served as the superintendent. In 1998, Stan and Denise moved to Bismarck where he was actively involved in the construction of Hawk Tree Golf Course and served as the superintendent for 6 years. Under his care, both Red Mike and Hawk Tree Golf Courses received various National rankings. For several years he had also owned and operated his own business, Sundown Landscaping and Lawn Sprinkling. At the time of his death, he was employed with the Mandan Parks and Recreation department as the superintendent to the Prairie West and the Mandan Municipal Golf Courses. Stan enjoyed time spent with his family boating on the Missouri River and working in his shop. In his early years he was a devoted fishing and hunting enthusiast. He took great pride in his yard and was well known by his neighbors for his well manicured lawn. He was an avid racecar fan and within the last few years, took great pleasure in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Stan is survived by his wife, Denise, Bismarck; son, Dalton, Grenora; daughters, Taylor and Jordan, Bismarck; brothers, Rodney Weeks, Burlington, ND; Steve Weeks, Ray, ND; and Ross (Cyrena) Weeks, Williston, ND; sisters, Teresa (John) Grap, Denison, Iowa, and Kelly (Elden) McCall, Stanwood, Washington; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald “Dick” and Violet Weeks, an infant sister, Elizabeth and an infant daughter, Sammi. Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009 at St.
