Viola Kurle was born February 17, 1930, in Eureka, SD, to Jacob and Frederica (Ritter) Kurle. She was raised on the family homestead and educated in Eureka. Viola was united in marriage to Willie Doerr October 23, 1949, in Eureka. They moved to Bismarck, where Viola was employed as a bookkeeper for Woolworths. In 1961, they moved to Minot, where Willie began employment with the Civil Service at the Minot Air Force Base and Viola continued her career as a bookkeeper with Tempo Stores and Baker Wholesale until her retirement in 1987. Willie died on November 12, 1987. Viola was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Minot and was active teaching Sunday school as well as holding several officer positions at the church. She was also an active volunteer at the soup kitchen as well as Trinity Medical Center for a number of years. Viola enjoyed camping, fishing, and bowling with her husband. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her daughter and four grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who shared in her life. Surviving family includes: Daughter: Kathleen (Paul) Fox, Nashville, TN; Grandchildren: Paul Fox II, Auburn, AL, Erin Fox, Houston, TX, Brian (Sarah) Fox, Cannon AFB, NM, and Kelly Fox, Nashville, TN; Brother: Harvey (Alice) Kurle, Eureka, SD; and several nieces and nephews. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Esther Beck.
