Kathleen Qualls,
86, 13 ˝ 9th St. SE, Minot, died Sunday, August 27, 2006, in her home.
Virginia was born June 28, 1920, in Duffield, Virginia, to James P. and
Sarah (Christian) Qualls. She was raised and educated in Virginia. As a
young adult, she was employed in a military defense plant. Virginia
was also employed at Elder-Beerman department store in Dayton, Ohio for
twenty years.
She was once married to Robert Witt, Carl Rogaisis, and Charles Woods, and
she was blessed with two daughters and helped raise Charles's three
children. In 1999, she moved to Minot to be closer to her family.
Virginia enjoyed playing cards, the outdoors, and traveling, especially her
trips to Alaska. In her younger years, she loved to dance, earning her the
nickname “Waltzing Matilda”. She has always had a great love for her
family, especially her grandchildren. Virginia was a Good Samaritan who was
always very helpful to whomever needed help.
Virginia was a former member of a homemaker's club in Mays Lick, KY.
Surviving family includes: Daughters: Patricia "Pat" Hiecke, Minot,
Karla (Ted Hardegen) Rogaisis, Minot; Step Children: Niles (Martha) Woods,
Anchorage, Alaska, Gerald Woods, Mays Lick, KY, and Brenda Woods, Salvisa,
KY; Grandchildren: Susan (Mike) Turner, Jennifer (Mark) DiNobile, Tricia
McKibbens, Theodore Hardegen, Heather (Justin) Bartlett and Priscilla (Dan)
Cormier; Step-Grandchildren: Nathan, Marion, Julia and Cara Woods;
Great Grandchildren: Steven (Kim) Miller, Michael Turner, Randy
Roberts, Levi Roberts, Shane Turner, Kaylynn Hardegen, Abigail McKibbens,
Alexander McKibbens, Avelynn Cormier, and Gabriella DiNobile;
Great-Great Grandchildren: Faith, William, and Alexsis Miller; Sister:
Gladys (Truman) Smith, Kingsport, TN; and several nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Vesta Osborne and
Mae Dingus; brothers: Ed, James, Kelly, Loren, and Cecil Qualls, an infant
brother; and son-in-law: Alfred W. Hiecke.
Funeral Service: Saturday, September 2, 2006, at 4:00 p.m. in The
Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, Minot.
Interment: Mays Lick, Kentucky at a later date.
Visitation: Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas
Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of plants and flowers the family prefers
memorials to the donor's choice.
