Wilber H. Chapin, 66, Minot, died Friday, April 24, 2009 in a Minot
Hospital. Wilber H. Chapin III was born January 26, 1943 at Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Wilbur Jr. and Mary (Azure) Chapin. He was raised in New York and graduated from Watertown High School. He enlisted with the United States Air Force in 1961 and honorably served his country for more than 26 years. He was stationed at bases in Turkey, England, Alaska, and Minot. While stationed at a base in England, he met Josephine “Jo” Peacock and they were married on August 8, 1967. They moved to Minot to be stationed at the Minot Air Force Base in 1976, and have lived here since. Wilber entered the Trinity Nursing Home in September of 2005. Wilber was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot and was active with the local Knights of Columbus organization. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, along with spending time with his family. His loving family includes: wife, Josephine “Jo” Chapin, Minot; sons: Jason Chapin and his wife, Ruth Schweitzer, Minot, Ben Chapin, Minot, daughter, Angelique Chapin, Minot; Grandchildren: Rhiannon Williams, Nathan, Jonathan, Madeline, Darby, Jake and Emma Jean Chapin; brother, Andrew Chapin, New York. Wilber was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Donna Josephine Chapin.
